Forgotten with broadband

Recently, I installed Download Accelerator again to my computer. The need is simple, the need to do batch download a picture gallery that would take long time to click one by one from browser (better go to sleep).

But these days, file download are usually protected behind anti-leech scripts, or file sharing sites. Broadband connection also made download faster, so no need to resume download. Bit Torrent download is… well, that.

Being so used to sites using file sharing sites to host their scan releases, I almost forget until yesterday, when a group released scan for the comic I’ve been looking for a while. I recently got informed that a friend had got the hardcopy version, so when I don’t really need the scan anymore, it pops out of nowhere.

But this time, the connection got reset and cut off midway, to my annoyance. That’s when I remembered… download manager! This site is unusual that it doesn’t use Megaupload, Rapidshare, or the such (particularly hate Uploaded.to, it kept disconnecting after several hundred kb for me).

Weekend with festival

Most things went well yesterday, which is a good thing, of course.

Plan Reality
Go to the local product fair and see who got the job to be in the stand. Too much activity and laziness in the morning, so got off late.
Pick up magazine in the bookstore. Pick up magazine in the bookstore.
Pay a visit to my previous working place (building) and get a rest. Unknown to me, there’s almost no shop open on Sunday. So had to walk back, almost no bus.
Write something… No seat with plugs. Settle down with reading the magazine.
Watch the parade. Watch the parade.
Got back at night. Had dinner with family, so got back earlier.

The first one is not really that important anyway, could ask it myself today to whoever got assigned to stand by at the company’s stand.

Off I go to the book store first. Seems like I’m wrong. The road block is opened during the noon (or else the local authorities might got protests from shopping centre managements around the streets).
Some explanation again. Every last Sunday of the month, the local government official closed the two main street through this city’s business district to promote better air quality, reduction of car emission and outdoor activities for the peoples. Despite so, it always caused heavily congested traffic in the alternative routes.

My ordered magazine, Dragon Magazine 2009-06, finally arrived after quite a long time late. Almost two months, but that’s normal I guess. The price is lower than last month (probably currency rate) and the bonus is a micro-fibre mini towel. Going to use it as collectible rather than usable goods though.

Impression will come later. The next plan is going to the building I used to work in. It’s Sunday, so the office must be close, but there are some restaurant downstairs. Planned on getting lunch there while waiting for the parade to begin.

Closed… no business except the very expensive groups. Wave it good bye and starts walking back. Fuelled by the single thought of “I’ve walked this far anyway, it just doesn’t justify to pay the bus just to go there” somehow I walked quite far, while making joke about tomorrow’s headline of a teen found drowned to death in pool of owns sweat.

By the way, Kinokuniya book store held a Tanabata event. They are helding couple contest too, but I guess the entry price (Rp.500k/€ 34.61 purchase on the day) is becoming the largest barrier of entry. Of course, there’s also the lack of information of the event and not many of the avid eroge magazine fans would have couple to go in contest with :P

Festival starts out rather late as expected. Personally, compared to the size of the street, the parade is small, organized in small groups. The most interesting is actually the earlier groups, we have traditional local dancers and Reog (from East Java) and traditional music bands. The ethnic group wearing red (Dayak tribe? not sure) and a a small parade like when children are going to be circumcised.

Antique bicycle and Vespa scooters is interesting. But classic car and the big bikes are not so impressive. Well, maybe their impression are too arrogant for me.

For the decorated cars, not comparable to international level, but that’s why it’s interesting right ? The cheaper feel and what made it feels like… peoples’ party :D

Yes, some give me laughs. The office for parks had car covered in decorative plants, while the fire brigade parade with band on their fire truck. The sanitation office had… something that’s supposedly model of garbage processing unit, but what’s the two person standing in front of it representing anyway ? (^-^;)

Got to go back earlier because my parent want to go out for dinner together, so, that’s my day. Bought new set of trousers too. Needed a new one.

In all, I think my shoes’ inner soles are taking a lot of damage today.

That’s a Friday

Since I’ve finished half of Black Lagoon 2 yesterday, I decided to finish it today. Coincidentally, I didn’t bring meal from home, so I usually go out for lunch later. Not really that weird though, usually I try not bringing lunch on Friday in case we’re going out straight after work.

Only this Friday it’s cancelled due to circumstances.

My stomach growled, but I had only two hundred or so lines to finish, so I go on, holding back, until the clock showed 1430 (approx.). Staying up stuffed with two mint/choco candies and glasses of waters and some light sleep now and then (plus new books coming from Shogakukan). Finishing the job, time for lunch, a late one that is.

This is where the fun starts. Down stair, there’s a lot of peoples preparing something. At first I thought it’s another “big guy” coming, after all, the last two days we have the vice president and president coming to visit one of the company’s founders. I’m in the comic book division, but in this corporate group, there’s also probably the largest publication of newspaper in this country, and since both politician are running for presidential election…

Not really. They’re planning a fire evacuation simulation, a surprise party for the unsuspecting workers. Lights are out and smoke are blown inside the building. I’m regretting the fact that I left my camera upstairs so I can’t take their pictures other that from my phone camera.

But seems like many know it’s not serious. The peoples from my division are really late. They said they doubted the seriousness of the issue because the security ordering evacuation are holding laughs. In some place, the smoke also have vanilla sweetness in it. Doesn’t stop me from teasing them 「命より〆切」 (deadline before life). The best evacuation I saw is actually from the other unit, who immediately bring down the most important documents related to the company legal status.

Afterward, the employees already evacuate downstairs made a show, simulating when they captured the arsonist and starts beating the person (albeit playfully).

Mind your own business

Today, I checked my Hatena Antenna page for updates. There’s a shocking update on one site, an adult game site I often visit (don’t play, too expensive and not enough time). As far as I know, this studio is quite clean. Although incorporating sexual relationship in the game, the plot itself (as far as I know) are romance, drama and miraculous. But then…

This website cannot be browsed excluding Japan.
Some foreigners seem to be having an antipathy against EROGE.
Therefore, We prohibited the access from foreign countries, to defend our culture.
Sorry for you of the fan that lives in a foreign country.
minori Inc.

For those wanting to read it on-site: http://www.minori.ph/

What they call eroge, or erotic game, is an industry. Maybe not as huge in sales as the major studios like Square, Capcom, Konami, etc, but there’s dozens of studios big and small working on these visual novel games. The genre of course, range from romance with minimum sex events (some can even cleanly excluded), to those catered for “special interest groups” (think, fetish porn). Well, in Japan, they flourished, some live and die, some thrives, just like any other businesses.

So… some time ago, there is a case, around the end of May. Equality Now, a women’s right organization, campaigned in protest of a game that featured rape theme as… well, as women’s right group, I think it’s save to assume it as “degrading of women” ? The outrage seems to successfully gained support to put pressure on governments, who want to ban such games.

Let aside the fact about rape and underage first… think of it with neutrality. This is, a game. And unlike porn, it doesn’t even need real life actors other than for the voice acting.

In media, two of the most sensitive matters in general are sex and violence, that’s ought to irk peoples, followed by racism. Being in media, and in a uptight country (for general public, hypocrites country), that two issues are also shunned. Sex in particular, is more sensitive thus censorship is tighter for picture of naked women than someone getting their head decapitated brutally in psycho killer “art”.

But come on… if we can accept seeing peoples getting shot dead in game… that’s violence.

So… there goes. Westerner, you who can’t understand, please stay out, nobody’s forcing you to come in. Hope this is the last one to take such moves. Kind of reminds me to Windows E.

Inheriting the way

In Telegraph.co.uk, there’s an article that reminds me of the story in a comic I worked on, Is Farming the Root of All Evil ?

But there’s a quote that really took my interest. It quite summarize the idea I want to convey to friend during idle talk in my campus years about why the greatest invention of human being is language, and why theoretical educations are also important instead of just being “street savvy”.

"Without the surplus of food you get through farming, we couldn't have the runaway technological innovation we see today. For instance, I can spend a lifetime in school, years doing a PhD, and then teach my students everything I know in a few months. They can then go on to become more expert than I am, pushing the boundaries of knowledge. Without agriculture, we wouldn't be able to stack innovation upon innovation."

In short, inheriting knowledge and building it on the peoples who had opened the path before us.

Festival, festival, to come

The city of Jakarta is having it’s 482nd birthday this year, so actually for this month there’s various events. One of the event I’m waiting for is the art festival in the old town area, which unfortunately is held last week. I heard the information from their Twitter account, but on the day, when it’s already too late. So, skip that one, besides this is not the first time I missed a festival in the old town area.

There’s another carnival this weekend though. On the last Sunday of the month, they closed the Sudirman street, a move praised by some because it frees the street from vehicle emission, but also smitten by many because of the inadequate alternative routes as well as the low interest from peoples to use public transportations. Sunday is rather difficult for me because I still had job on Monday, but lets try. At least, I can also take a rest and visit the building I used to work in too.

PS: on unrelated topic… I still can’t really understand the Japanese web design. It might have more texts and more oldies looking compared to American sites, but there’s like an identity in it. For example, Live Messenger’s Japan site and UK site.

Week (end) in review ?

I admit that lately I wrote more on my other place more than in Live Space. But although they use proprietary tags instead of standard HTML tags, I found it more fun. The JavaScript interface, the interface in general, far faster loading time and load, and the per day entry grouping that looks more intended for diary site than article publishing site.

Yesterday is a fun weekend day, most things runs as planned. In the morning I first go to my office to print some documents. In the weekend, the pre-printing division has less workers, thus I’m posing less disturbance if I went there and borrow a computer to edit the proofs myself. But while I’m doing it, apparently I took too much time so the later parts is rather rushed and I don’t have enough time to check the last batch of pages.

On weekend, only shifts workers (and their managers) are in, so most doors in the building are locked. Had to turn around empty halls and dimly lit service elevator that sounds loud. The quiet emergency staircase and metal stairs & platform above the product packing & shipping area too. I think I understand the feeling of peoples making Counter Strike maps using their school, when empty, it worth a survival horror genre setup.

Ah, we both went to Pondok Indah afterward. We’re meeting a friend who’s waiting for an article contributor in the magazine they worked in. She’s going to be late because of the (seems to be) postponed announcement of their national exam result. While waiting, I went to line up for Star Trek’s ticket and got one of the best position. Near the back, near the alley, and close enough to dash for the toilet in case of emergency. The ticket price is more expensive there, but we didn’t regret watching the movie a single bit. Seeing and listening familiar names really bring back the sensation like meeting again with old friends.

The contributor arrived sometime before the movie finished. We gathered in the food court and have some fun, although I can’t remember what I had for lunch or dinner that day. Or probably I forgot having lunch and dinner.

Gi-chan meet with her niece, dearly beloved niece, and they had fun playing together. We also went to their house for a while. She had fun, but seems like the children are not so enthusiast with me. Probably because I didn’t seem expressive nor showing enthusiasm too, acting passive and inviting only because I don’t want to force an interaction from them. Well, they’re attracted to the active and expressive, sound and movements. But, she naturally had that charm for attracting peoples. (^-^)

In the night, we’re treated for supper by her cousin in a cafe near their house. As cafe in the area, I don’t understand deliciousness too much, but I could grasp that they’re also selling the atmosphere and mood for the place. It has several separated dining rooms and a comfy looking inner garden (urban outdoor dining is too hot for me though).

But the best is of course, the time being together outside far longer than usually, unbound by the curfew.

Ah, today is the being tired day. But I still had my time to go out and find a place to start typing again, including my experimental diary, but that’s personal. Too bad the place still doesn’t serve their snack platters yet. Maybe they’re waiting for until the opening discount ends?

Checked the basic Lego block prices too. The price sure inflate since the last time I had them (god knows when).

A closer battle result

This weekend is the announcement day of schools’ final national examination result. This is a nationwide test from the education department to test the students and decide whether they could graduate or not.

The problem is, the number of students failing is spectacular, news worthy. Keep aside the capital city area, in the provinces outside Java, there are many students failing. There’s even school where the whole students failed!

Of course, there are problem with the students and the method of teaching. But more importantly, the test itself has become controversial in the recent years. Students usually got two final tests. First is from the education department, while the other is from the school. Until my junior high school years, the test from school is generally considered to be more difficult. But during my high school years, something is changing ? I remember my math  teacher comment on the test, “I tried doing the test myself, and personally, that’s not problems for testing the students. It’s as if the teachers designing the test trying to make unsolvable problem for their own level”.

I got 4 for math, although I think I should have 5 or 6 (from 10).
…irrelevant.

There’s also the social problem for students who failed, but there’s also problem with money. Education cost a hell here (as many, medical and child-education related services are businesses that can say their price as they like). There’s still many students who can barely managed to get their education, and failed to go to the next grade on schedule is still generally regarded as “stupid”, which will gave trouble for example when applying to university or job. Not to mention the shame of being looked down my their peers, the student’s and their parents’.

University as businesses also opened their registration even before the national examination. Parents have to pay for registration forms (the papers, not including the registration fees itself) and sort of deposits. If their children failed examination, part of those hefty amount paid can’t be returned.

Indeed, when it’s announced, many students failing went hysteric or even faint out. The next weeks will be filled with news about these protests I assume. I also want to see how the presidential candidates will try using this issue for their political campaigns.

The golden rule

Came from a chat I’m having… right now.

The golden rule that I mean is of course: do unto other what you wished to be done unto yourself.

It’s a great idea, although I still doesn’t like the wording that made it sounds so realistic, people do something in expectation of reciprocated action from others.

The original statement is active in nature. Do good to others. Other way of seeing it in passive meaning, don’t hurt others unless you’re a masochist.

It’s about karma, what you do will return to you eventually.

But in recent time, does the rule still works the same ? Although unspoken, I think it has shifted to another type of passive command based not on natural karma, but vengeance. If you don’t want to be disturbed, don’t get involved and shut up.

Door for the crisply dead

P1000272 (1024x768)

That is the door to emergency stair in my office building, which is also used as alternative exit by employee working in second floor because it’s a lot faster than waiting for the elevator. Every sometime, there’s problem like this. Even if you push the handle, the door wont budge. The door knob is broken. But CMIIW, shouldn’t the door can be opened easily from either side ? Especially from inside the building.

Well, the answer came later, from picture placed on the door. Who’s this emergency stair’s intended users ?

P1000273 (1024x768)

Oh right, headless peoples, a.k.a ghosts of those grilled to death. They can go through the emergency stair.

Ok, joking. The second picture is from another building, older building that ironically, the emergency stair’s door works.

Gelar Jepang UI 2009

Today, I went to the Japanese event held by the Centre for Japanese Studies of Indonesian University. Should be going yesterday, but due to circumstances, we went there today.
From the moment I hop into the car, been taking my role in the comedic combi with my friend. Too bad I can’t remember most of them as usual.

The event is also as usual. It’s been years since last time I visited event held by the Jakarta Japan Foundation. Well… maybe not that long because I remember our second, that day, so… about three years ago. Such culture festival in Jakarta has not been held ever since the changeover in Indonesian social culture climates. Last year’s event, I remember is invite only too, so I wasted my time to go to the event ground. This year I should arrange some time to go to JF to ask for information.

The thing is, these events, although enjoyable too, is too modern. Rock band (who I could barely hear the vocal drowned in over loud drum noise) and costume players everywhere. Too crowded, so moving around is difficult. But the most torturing part must be the amazingly clear weather when I queued for lunch.

Ah, my brother is how, had to finish here. My father seems to be in bad mood too and want to push the accounting jobs to me again, so I might not have the time tomorrow.

Bags, bags, bags

Summarizing activities from… last Wednesday ? Too long, make it last Friday.

Ok, Thursday. A colleague finally bought  the netbook he wanted. It’s an Asus EEE PC, with Swarovski crystal attached. Where? In the little end of the hinge. Yes, so not obvious and the piano black finish looks better than the crystal itself. Actually he wanted the brown coloured, but they run out of stock in the computer show, so he got the black one with same price plus discount. Well, he seems satisfied with the purchase, but probably wont bring it to the office everyday like another colleague (probably the only person in the room who could speak Korean) who brings it for work, probably because of the underspecced work PC he had.

My boss… she’s more interested in the leather case than the computer itself. She had a Lenovo S10 already and loving it. What she need is just a sleeve case so she can use her bag instead of a netbook bag.

I went to the show again in the afternoon (Friday), looking for the sleeve case. Well, before that, we went around, window shopping and training our heart against whispers of the devil saying “buy~ buy~ buy~ buy us~”. No, not with my boss, with someone else. I also look for a bag for myself, which sadly, they run out of stock at the moment.

After work, I went there again to check, plus my brother is also there with his friends. The plan is to go home together. My brother also seems to want an upgrade for his Toshiba A15 notebook (IINM). But since his unit is still not even a year old, it’s rather difficult. I also told him, Windows 7 will be released later this year anyway, so better wait. No, I doubted the possibility that our local distributors would give free Windows 7 upgrades as much as an atheist would doubt the existence of god.
He also had his reason. If he waited next year, the price should go down, and most notebook would be equipped with BluRay drive. He likes watching movies. His target… HP HDX series.

Finally today, I went to the local IT mall looking for the bag, with a cousin who came to visit. Most of the shops also run out of stock, but I found one, finally. This model. It’s a local brand, without lifetime warrantee like my Targus bag. But it’s more spacious, compact and a lot cheaper. My mother, in the other hand, had that distasteful look, because I bought another bag. Well, I planned on selling my old bag. Hope it sells with a good enough price.

Now, in the mall near my home. There’s a show by the Indonesian Lego lover community. My favourite, xenomorph alien using Lego. Too bad, most the main exhibited models are made from packages (e.g: Star Wars package) instead of building it from the classic bricks.

BTW, anyone else making photo of their gadget bag ?
How about making contest, like… Microsoft Store in a bag, with notebook, Xbox, Zune, Windows Mobile phone, Microsoft shirt and stainless steel mug (do they have that in the employee store?), mouse, keyboard and several install DVDs. Garnished with Bing and other promotional stickers and small accessories from events. (^_^;;)

Emma

冥府より罷り越し [***], お前の骨を貰い受ける
死の連鎖よ 骨と散れ

Translated roughly as… “from Meifu Emma pay a visit. [*** name], I accept your bones. Chain of death, break with the bones.”

Meifu, roughly translated as the dark office, is one of the name for afterworld, referring to the official office where lord of the underworld judge the souls arriving.

This is from a comic that I starts to got interested in. The title is エンマ by 土屋 計 and ののやま さき. Currently, I’ve just read three chapters (7–10) from Kodansha’s Shounen Rival magazine in the office.

The concept of the story are as follow. Human engage in so many needless killing, and this caused overflowing of soul to the underworld. Even if Lord Enma (one of the king of hell in the Orient) judge them, there’s no end to the soul coming to his place. So he created a paper doll, a girl called Emma (actually, same reading as his name) to be sent to the world of living.

There, Emma look for her target, peoples who will cause a lot of killing (even if they never meant to cause it). She will then take away their bones, killing them. But by ‘Lord Enma’s sympathy’, as much as the number of people who cared for the person, that much bones can’t be taken. Emma can’t take bones of peoples who have at least 200 peoples caring for the person.

In the end though, one way or another the person will die anyway. For example, the mafia who had his family loving him got his bones taken after they realized he’s an impostor. A British explorer to the Antarctic can’t be killed because the whole kingdom are waiting for his team to return, but he’s frozen to dead by the harsh Antarctic blizzard.

So far, the story is kind of repetitive like 地獄少女. But every now and then, there’s small hints that seems to lead to Emma learning more emotion and understanding of human life as she goes to the world of the living, so I guess there should be a larger development later. So far though, the story is moving slowly and it feels like watching her develop her characters in a steady pace.

Declining over here too

We had two computer related event this June in JCC. As I might mentioned before, this is not comparable to the technology events in more developed countries where the main purpose seems to be showcasing technological advances made by the company. Here, it’s about showing stuffs that visitors can burn their money for with tricky discounts (most case, seems to be price cut from distributors instead of worthwhile discounts).

Because the chief is taking her day off, we went to the event during lunch time. Amazingly, the street is not so congested that we only used… Rp.30k (about… €1.07), cheaper than we expected. Because it’s shared to five peoples, about the price of the event’s entrance ticket (started 2 or 3 years ago, probably to reduce crowds coming just for window shopping).

The cell phone show is disappointing as last year’s though. Other than HTC, who are showcasing their Android HTC Magic device priced around €430, there’s no other major device makers. No Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG, Motorola. Instead, there’s the Chinese device makers, and the local carrier companies. I hope I’m missing the stand, but unlikely.

Had an unproven hypothesis though. I know many peoples are coming just to see the sales promotion girl, or to see the devices. But the show never gave significant discounts (afraid of hurting sales margin ?) and the stock are limited anyway. Most will buy their device in either official store or resellers. Information is not that important either. We have the internet, and many tabloids covering things from reviews to plagiarizing news from the internet. So, why should the makers spend promotional money to pay for the expensive fee to join the event ? Even Nokia seems to choose another venue for their N97 flagship model launching (which seems to be my choice if Palm Pre took too long to be sold here and the price is getting ridiculous like when HTC Touch Diamond, Magic, Samsung Omnia, SE Xperia and iPhone when they’re launched. Well, iPhone is still the most ridiculously priced.

By the way, will Windows Live for Symbian available for N97 ?

The computer side is not any better. I didn’t see Western Digital’s stand. Also, ever since the economic situation, and notebook become trend, I missed the time when company booth will feature motherboard, graphic card and even show up elaborate rigs and game to advertise their products. Nowadays, it’s notebook, and netbook. *sigh*

My planned purchase would be a new notebook bag. My current Targus bag is too tight in my opinion. Need something more spacious, and won’t feel as stuffed when I stuck in other stuffs like power brick and a shirt.

2009/6/9

This and that, rather hyper

Can’t believe it, I managed to finish the editing of that one book in a day! Well, the result would be hectic though, I guess I’m still immature in that part, but when doing it, it kind of just flowing along and I’m putting more weight in accuracy of translation than the grammar and conventions. Had to fix it too.

Didn’t take any picture today again, nothing interesting when I stopped. *sigh*
The parts I want to take pictures of, I hesitated again. (バカバカバカ)

Talking about jobs, from the monitoring meeting today, again, under delivered and the marketing folks are not pleased. Well, I drank three cups of instant coffee (plus lot of creamer) from the publishing division’s meeting room though, while the production guy (representing the mature comics division) is not so enthusiastic due to the snack that’s under expectation today. But that’s nothing to do with business (and more about the jokes between us the regular participants).

But, is it strange that I drank the most cup of coffee ? Well, I usually waited until the coffee become cool enough (warm) and drank it like syrup or soda.
…so, I did it the wrong way ? I don’t understand why peoples drink their cup slowly sip by sip (other than it’s boiling hot).

Since I could get the titles we published freely (or even read the original copy in the library), my attention usually go to the other publisher (same group, different company, just like Shogakukan and Shueisha, not really) which I buy from book store (too lazy to climb up stair and shamelessly borrow a copy to read). ARIA 11 is going on sale next week, that’s quick. Shiawase Kissa 3-choume too.

Then, on last week of June, some new titles, including one that made me laughed silently. If I remember correctly, the author is 川添真理子. The title is translated, but I’m guessing it’s the 仙術師 series. If I remember correctly, I’ve read some chapters when I subscribed to Wings magazine and it’s hillarious, if the reader could tolerate the homosexual jokes every here and there.

Talking about that… this morning, I think an editor brought anime movie to office. Umm… the title is Eden or something. Got a short peek, homosexual themed anime, with bed scene too.

The computer sales event will starts tomorrow. I had another meeting tomorrow (since most likely the chief editor will delegate the job) so I won’t be able to go on lunch time. But Thursday, will go there and look around, checking prices and layout. A friend also asked to buy external hard drive. Not sure.

何か意味不明事を言いましょう

Translated to English… something like that psycho guy in Baccano babbles about. The translation from Bing Translator is not acceptable, but to be fair, Google translator is not acceptable either. So, did I mess up with the grammar there by being too informal? But I still find Microsoft’s translator to be doing less acceptable results in most case.

In spirit of my personal “let’s tone down the twittering” movement, this post is about, good morning!

The rain yesterday really cleaned out the air. Fresh, cold and wet morning air. Doesn’t even sweat when I arrived in the office, even though I still had to walk from the public transport because the street in front of Palmerah marketplace is congested (as usual, got used to that).

Two and a half scripts left, Fight!

By the way, last night my dad bring home fake iPhone he get as gift from friend (or is it my uncle?) who just came back from China. Yes, he know it’s fake and has no intention of using it (or the real one). He’s the type that only use phone for call and texts.

PS: when writing that last paragraph, again I felt déjà-vu. Must have tangled wiring in my brain.

June rain

In the northern hemisphere, might not be so strange. In the equator here, this means the dry season is late, not like I’ll protest about it other than the traffic jam resulted from local flooding.

It starts from before lunch until sometime after. The intensity is quite high, causing local flooding here and there. Well, that’s recipe for congested traffic. The water in the canal, in Grogol is almost filled too. If I stand on the street level, the water inside the canal might be knee high. This is full moon night by the way, so sunset should be the low tide hour.

Had to wait for the bus until twilight and already forgetting the words I want to write. I think, I had a lot to write today, but here it is… memory loss. *sigh*

Movie screening and coconut sweet tea

P1000136 (1024x768) Went to Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children screening in Hot Game magazine today. Rather late, but well… I’m not coming for the movie anyway. Tried to arrive before lunch, had promised I’ll bring snack too, and Cup Noodle. Instant noodle for date and lunch might not sounds so romantic, but it sounds fun and atypical, so worth to try.

Although, they already had boxed lunch prepared. But those snacks could be her emergency ration in office for next week, so it’ll not be wasted.

P1000141 (2) (768x1024) By the way, from the window, there’s a tall radio tower. Took the picture from there and the sky really looks good that time. Made this one into black and white because the original had strong blue tint. I took it in a hurry so I forgot setting the manual white balance.

After that, spent some time outside trying to type something, a story. Been absent from doing it since my notebook goes to the service and not coming back yet. Tried a new shop just opened near home, besides, they’re having opening promo until June 30th, 50% discount for drinks and 25% discount for foods. Sounds good for me. Want to go there again next week, at least until the promo is over. Seems like it’s a branch from cafe in hotel, because they still use the paper napkin supply from the hotel.

But perhaps I’m over exerting myself. When starting to type, I’m too sleepy to concentrate, let alone thinking of plot and jokes. Only made less than half a page. Need more rest today, had jobs tomorrow.

Interesting password tips

Yesterday, while waiting for the person who deliver my new notebook, I spent some time in the a show held by Sony store. It’s the usual thing, showcasing their products and so. There’s also artist who showed on the stage, but I never pay attention to that world, so I had no idea and no interest in knowing the artist more than the products.

So here’s the most interesting sample item put on display. Notebook PCs sometimes are stuck on the Locked screen so password had to be entered to show the screen again. This works well in keeping peoples from tampering with the computer setting and causing errors totally uncalled for. After wrong attempt, Vista’s login screen will show password hint. This one unit’s password hint is (translated): don’t give up, keep trying.

That’s… helpful, and very encouraging hints, at least more creative than the other notebook on display that I ever seen. Too bad, I hesitated on pulling out camera again.

Got my new notebook by the way. As planned, HP Pavilion Tx2. It’s an older model with 2.1 GHz processor, but 4GB memory and Windows Vista Ultimate. Cleaned up the bloatware and installed my used software. Maybe I’ll make review later on, but the three things is easily visible compared to my previous one, an older model. The battery now used the 6 cell by default, previously there’s the 4-cells battery too. Then, the keyboard is better on Tx1000, using imprint finish so the letters will stay longer. Lastly, the trackpad button is noisier.

Had lunch after that, and realized, I don’t know the difference between similar meat chop. Get one medium raw, and not so bad, in fact it’s easier to chew. Usually, my parents wont allow meat other than well done though, worrying about the meat not clean enough.

Then, we get on with the room cleaning and others. Room re-arranging and sorts.

Luckily, since my parents are going to wedding reception that night, they offered to pick me up when going back home. Nice timing, because I’m rather worried actually, to carry two laptop bags (the other one had extra shirt and books) late night using bus. (°ε°)
